The other day I discovered what my super power was. Unlike some super powers it was something I’ve lived with all my life without even knowing it. When I say “super power” I’m actually referring to a higher than average sense. In my case it turns out it’s taste.
Upon discovering my “Supertaster” ability, small pieces of my life began to come into focus. Part of being a super taster is a more sensitive pallet to bitter tastes. This explains my distaste for most vegetables such as: cabbage, spinach, brussels sprouts other bitter things like, tonic water, wine and artificial sweetener which can be one of the tests, if it’s more bitter than sweet, SUPER TASTE!
Though I do taste bitter much more strongly I do sometimes find it palatable and desirable taste, such as my love for grapefruit and grapefruit juice (though very bitter I still like it), coffee (again still bitter, but love it), beer (Bitter, but I’ve been developing an acquired taste for it’s varied aromas and other flavors over the years).
I’ve never really looked at why I don’t like specific foods. Reflecting on my diet, it does show glaring over salting and aversion to bitter foods and flavors with a few exceptions. Now knowing more about myself I think I’ll train my power, help it grow, learn to control it…
..then the question is: What do I use my super power for… Good or Evil?
… and new name! This post marks the opening of Orange Byte Design. As I get content on here things will start to flesh out. Here, in the blog area, I'll be featuring articles that focus on my areas of expertise: Animation, Art, Design, Programming and everything in between. The work area will fill up rather quickly over the next few days as I gather and upload my past projects and portfolio pieces.
